Frequently Asked Questions
The university mattress is stored underneath your Big Red Bed, stood vertically against the wall. Cornell policy dictates that students cannot remove university furniture from the room, so this is where the additional under-bed storage space comes in handy.
As an added bonus, the old mattress is perfect to bring out for your visitors from out of town!
If you ordered sheets or additional bedding products, you can pick them up before your installation date, so you can use them with the university supplied Twin XL until we deliver your Big Red Bed.

Our Big Red Beds are installed on our secure frame extender attached to the original bed frame. You don't ever have to worry about the bed frame sliding off.
Check out our Instagram reels! We made a video showing that, even with four people jumping onto the edge of the bed, it won't break or flip. Pretty neat!
No worries — you don't need to know yet. We'll reach out before O-Week to coordinate where to install your Big Red Bed.
All of our Big Red Beds have passed fire inspections by both city and school inspectors. Our mattresses are certified fire-resistant, too. But you might still get compliments saying that your bed is "fire"… 🔥
Big Red Beds are replaced every 4 years (we recycle them!), are always used with waterproof covers, and customers will NOT be sharing mattress covers. In comparison, at Cornell, we've heard reports of dorm beds that are really, really old.
Thankfully, YOUR Big Red Bed will be brand, brand new. 2024-2025 marks our first full year in business, and because all of our existing customers are renting again, new customers will be receiving new beds!
